Bolt held the #1 spot for the third consecutive week at 1,060 mentions despite a 10.8% drop, while the Anthropic SDK crossed 25.1M monthly downloads — now 46.9% of OpenAI's volume.

A Broad-Based Pullback

This is the first week in our tracking where every major tool declined simultaneously. The 7.5% drop wasn't driven by any single tool's collapse — it was spread remarkably evenly across the top of the leaderboard. Bolt, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude all fell between 10% and 12%. The uniformity of the decline suggests this is a market-level effect rather than a tool-specific story.

The top 4 remain tightly clustered — Bolt (1,060), ChatGPT (1,017), Cursor (1,011), and Claude (990) are separated by just 70 mentions, even tighter than last week's 80-mention spread. Despite the pullback, the competitive dynamics at the top haven't changed.

After four consecutive weeks of growth — including a 34.4% surge last week — Windsurf pulled back 2.6% to 149 mentions. The decline is modest and could simply reflect the broader market pullback. The more telling number is engagement: Windsurf's score dropped from 1,588 last week to 579 this week, bringing its engagement ratio from 10.4x down to 3.9x. The passionate discussion that fueled the streak may be cooling.

Stack Overflow: Down 23% Across the Board

Total Stack Overflow questions fell from 43 to 33 this week — a 23.3% decline that mirrors last week's 31% drop. The platform continues its structural contraction for AI tool support questions.

GitHub Copilot's SO questions dropped 57.1% (7 → 3) — its steepest single-week decline. Combined with its 6.5% Reddit decline, Copilot continues retreating across both discussion surfaces. Cursor remains the SO leader at 10 questions, though it too declined 23.1%.

The biggest story in the SDK layer this week is Anthropic's continued march toward parity with OpenAI.

Anthropic's SDK at 25.1M monthly downloads now commands 46.9% of OpenAI's 53.5M volume. That's up from 44.9% last week and 43.5% two weeks ago. The pace of convergence is accelerating — Anthropic gained 2 percentage points in a single week. At this rate, the 50% milestone could arrive by mid-March.

Vercel's AI SDK crossed 33.8M monthly downloads, continuing to grow as the provider-agnostic abstraction layer. Google's Generative AI SDK holds steady at 8.9M, maintaining its position in the third tier.

What This Data Shows

1. Pullbacks Are Normal — The Ranking Order Didn't Change

Despite a 7.5% overall decline, the top-10 ranking is identical to last week. Bolt still leads, the top 4 are still clustered, and the same tools occupy the same tiers. Market-level pullbacks don't reshuffle winners — they reveal which tools have structural support versus hype-driven mentions. The fact that the decline was so uniform (10-12% across the top 4) suggests a natural ebb in overall Reddit developer activity rather than tool-specific sentiment shifts.

2. Anthropic's SDK Growth Stands Apart from the Discussion Pullback

While Claude's Reddit mentions fell 11.9%, Anthropic's SDK downloads jumped to 25.1M monthly — the highest we've tracked. This divergence between discussion volume and actual integration activity is the week's most important signal. Developers may be talking less but building more with Claude. The 46.9% ratio versus OpenAI represents real code being written, not Reddit posts.

3. Replit's Counter-Trend Growth Deserves Monitoring

Growing 18% in a week where everything else declined is notable. Replit occupies a different niche — browser-based development with AI built in — that may not compete directly with the IDE-based tools dominating the top 4. If Replit sustains growth through consecutive pullback weeks, it would confirm the tool is drawing from a distinct developer pool.
